THE TITANIC SAILED IN VALLEJO October 6, 2007. Vallejo Music Theatre presented a unique black tie evening, October 6, 2007, at the World Classics Event Center, 1525 Sonoma Boulevard, Vallejo. Replicating the last night on the R.M.S. Titanic including a seven course dinner, a stringed quartet, a reception in the Titanic Room, tuxedoed Table Captains, commemorative pictures, glasses and writing pens and waiters/waitresses trained especially for the event. As a special guest the great grand daughter of the “Unsinkable” Molly Brown - Muffet L. Brown – will tell the audience spellbinding stories about her famous ancestor. Only 250 tickets will be sold at a price of $125.00 each or $100.00 if an individual has made a donation to the Building Fund since January, 2003. All “passengers,” with boarding passes in the names of the original passengers, will be welcomed aboard at 6:00 PM. They will be given their table assignments, “Instructions For Passengers” given to the original Titanic passengers and escorted to the reception where wine tasting, served in commemorative wine glasses and the first dinner course will be served as appetizers. A “Titanic Gift Shop” awaits eager passengers who wish to purchase the book “Molly Brown, Unraveling the Myth,” by Kristen Iverson with forward by Muffet and signed by her. Upon request Muffet will personalize books throughout the evening. Other books and memorabilia will also be for sale at the Gift Shop. After receiving your preferred wine you may climb the carpeted stairs to the Titanic Room to have your picture taken with Muffet (and we believe we will also have a Captain John Smith joining us). Shawn Miller, Photographer, will process and present to you your very own 5” X 7” portrait inserted in a commemorative folder before you leave for the evening. At 7:00 PM all passengers will be escorted by table to the dinning room where the second course awaits on the tables. City Lights Catering has taken great pains to replicate seven of the twelve courses served on the Titanic. As passengers enter the dining room they will pass the beautiful replica of the 1911 Renault Towncar identical to the car purchased by William Carter in Billancourt, France in 1911 and loaded aboard the RMS Titanic for shipment to the United States on April 6, 1912. Carter survived the sinking of the Titanic, his car did not. The car, owned by antique car aficionado Buck Kamphausen, will be brought from its secret hiding place especially for this event. Throughout dinner a stringed quartet, will entertain with the music of the early 1900’s. Megan Freedman will entertain you with some of the ditties popular in 1912 and at the appropriate time will sing the theme song from the movie “Titanic,” “My Heart Will Go On.” Around 8:30 PM Muffet will deliver an entertaining talk about her famous ancestor. Door prize for the evening is lunch with Muffet the following day for a lucky group of passengers. Starting with the reception and throughout the evening announcements will be made informing passengers the time-line of the ship’s sailing before it collides with the infamous iceberg. After Muffet’s presentation we will all learn if our passengers survived the sinking. With a rousing rendition of the British National Anthem….our evening will end. Our goal for fund raising for the evening is $250,000 which will be used to begin installation of a temporary 184 seat theatre in the old Historic Post Office, 823 Marin Street by the summer of 2008. All attendees at this event will join a very special “Titanic Club” which will receive its own plaque in the foyer of the theatre upon completion of the temporary theater. It is this event and this group of people that takes us to the next very step in our goal and mission to provide a full-service Performing Arts Centre in Vallejo – unlike any other in the Bay Area! Event Underwriters: Mandarich Developers - Belvedere Condominiums now open for inspection, Triad Communities, LLC, Hoeing Winery, Judith H. Brown, Larry Holzer and Georgia House Graphics. | |
